Maruti Suzuki India is Planning to Launch Four SUVs Within Next Two Years.

India's largest car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch four SUVs within next 2 years. The high demand of SUVs in the Indian market attracted the company to this segment. The company has been concentrating on the small and compact cars, has currently only one SUV called Gypsy.



Maruti will launch a crossover version of SX4 and is expected to be launched by the year 2014. It is expected that the SX4 will a get higher ground clearance. Maruti Suzuki is also developing a brand new SUV called the XA Alpha, which is expected to be introduced by 2015. The XA Alpha concept was first unveiled in 2012 Auto Expo. The SUV is likely to compete with Mahindra Quanto and the Ford EcoSport. It is expected the XA Alpha will come in both petrol and diesel variants.



The third new SUV from Maruti Suzuki could be based on the very popular Swift DZire. Maruti Suzuki also has a planning to produce a sub-4 metre SUV of the Grand Vitara. The SUV will be based on the Kizashi’s platform and is expected to be launched in 2015. With the new launch, the company's target is to capture the fast growing SUV segment in the Indian auto market.

Renault Duster is one of the SUV that has became a huge success in Indian market. As per the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturer(SIAM) data, the Indian car buyers bought 57 percent more SUVs in the first 10 months of the financial year. Another car giant Mahindra & Mahindra which has recently launched its premium SUV Rexton from the SsangYong portfolio on 28th Jan 2013. Mahindra has a record huge sales in the recent past, and its best selling brands were XUV 500, Quanto and Rexton.

Mahindra has also hiked the capacities of these bands and hopes to bring down the waiting period for these popular products. Within the first two months of its launch, Mahindra's Quanto has got bookings of more than 12000 units.

Maruti Suzuki has already launched a Muti Purpose Vehicle(MPV) called Ertiga. The vehicle was a huge success, became an MPV topper in just six month of its launch. Almost all car makers is planning to launch their own SUVs in India and the much awaited SUVs includes Ford EcoSport, Nissan with its own version of the Renault Duster and Tata with new Tata Indica Vista D90 Xtreme.
