Mahindra Launches Reva E2O

Mahindra has launched the e2o(energy to oxygen)in the Indian market. The e20 is a 2-door hatchback with 4-seats and is available only in one variant at price of Rs. 5.96 lakhs. The e20 was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2012.



Mahindra e2o is a vehicle with no engine, no noise and no vibration. Mahindra e2o utilizes a 3-phase induction motor, which has a peak power of 19 kW at 3750 rpm and has a peak torque of 53 Nm between 0-3400 rpm. The vehicle offers a top speed of 81 km/hr. The e20 make use of the next generation lithium-ion battery (maintenance free) of 48V, which will have a range of 100 km on a full charge, which is suitable for most urban commuters today. It takes five hours to fully charge its batteries. The vehicle having a ground clearance of 180 mm, has a kerb weight of 830 kg.




The Mahindra e2o comes with an automatic gearbox, is a complete green car that would have zero emission. Mahindra e2o can be charged using a 15 Ampere plug point and it can also be charged from Solar energy using Sun2Car technology. Mahindra offers a smartphone app for the e2o, which enable owners lock, unlock, turn on AC, locate nearest charge port, etc from their phones.


The internal features include Bluetooth connectivity, GPS Navigation with integrated maps, one touch foldable seats, driver infotainment system, 6.2-inch touch screen infotainment system, CD/DVD/USB/AUX/MicroSD and iPod connectivity. While the external features include scissor wipers, electric rear view mirrors, projector headlamps, rear defogger and reverse camera.



The company is expecting a sale of 400-500 units of the e2o per month and is targeting those customers who need a second hand car. The company also has a plan to export the vehicle. Mahindra has invested Rs. 100 crore in the Reva e2o project.

Mahnidra e2o will be available in 6 colours- silver, bue, white, green, yellow and red. The e2o is available in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Cochin and Chandigarh.
