2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Caught Testing in India

The 2013 Santa Fe will compete the Toyota Fortuner and the recently launched 2013 Honda CR-V

The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe has been spotted testing in Chennai. The SUV was unveiled globally at 2012 New York Auto Show. When compared to its predecessor, 2013 Santa Fe got a modern look. The Hyundai Santa Fe has already been launched in China. The vehicle is based on the ‘Storm Edge’ design concept.



The vehicle has undergone a lot of interior and exterior transformation. In India the 2013 Santa Fe is expected to come in a 3-row seating arrangement with a capacity of 7 passengers. Hyundai showcased the 7-seater Santa Fe at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Hyundai Santa Fe will also available as a 5-seater internationally.

The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe will be powered by the same 4 cylinder 2.2L DOHC common-rail diesel as the outgoing generation. The vehicle offers a peak power of 194 BHP and peak torque of 422 Nm for manual transmission version, and 436 Nm for automatic version, both at 1,800 RPM. Both 6-speed manual & automatic transmissions and FWD or AWD layouts are offered on 2013 Santa Fe.

The Santa Fe carries a 5-star NCAP safety rating and is equipped with the safety features like ESP, 7 airbags, ABS, hill start assist etc. The major other features include electric seats, xenon headlamps, daytime running lights, keyless start & go, electric parking brake, dual-zone climate control, rear-conditioning, parking camera, 6-speaker entertainment system with amplifier & subwoofer and more. Just like the new Honda CR-V, the Santa Fe gets one-touch-folding rear seats.

The Hyundai has been importing Santa Fe as CBU route since 2010. The company decides to assemble the new Santa Fe at its Chennai factory so that they can launch the new SUV in more competitive price. The best selling luxury SUV in India, the Toyota Fortuner, has maintained a sales average of 1,300 units for the last 6 months.

The 2013 Santa Fe will compete the Toyota Fortuner and the recently launched 2013 Honda CR-V. It is expected that the new Santa Fe will launch in India within few months and the price is expected to be around INR 20 lakhs.
