Ford Figo Aspire, is a compact sedan from the American auto giant and has become the second largest selling compact sedan since August. Following the immediate click of the Figo Aspire, Ford is all geared up to launch the new Figo Hatchback. The Ford Figo, is a subcompact hatchback manufactured by Ford India. Figo India revealed the sub-compact sedan christened as Figo Aspire to rival the growing compact-sedan segment in India. The compact sedan was based on the second generation Figo, the new Figo Aspire is based on a highly modified last generation Figo's platform and was manufactured in the Ford India's second brand new manufacturing facility in Sanand in Gujarat. The Figo Aspire came with 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, SYNC infotainment system and sports Ford Kinetic 2.0 design philosophy. Mechanically, Ford India had announced that the vehicle will be powered by a newly developed 1.2 litre Ti-VCT unit petrol engine along with Fiesta borrowed 1.5 litre TDCI DV5 turbo diesel. Regarding the price, the cost of the vehicle starts at 4.89Lakhs and this vehicle is claimed to be the first sub-compact sedan from Ford India.
Ford India, is literally on high spirits as they are doing some good number of sales and probably that's whats made them to release the second generation of the Figo hatch just after a month of release, of the Aspire. Exterior has similarities to the Aspire and some notable features are the grille which has an Aston Martin resemblance, the large headlamps which have an upward projection, sporty 14inch alloy wheels, a spoiler adjusted to the end of the roof rear, the taillights are smaller compared to its predecessor, indicators mounted on the side mirrors, overall the vehicle is redesigned and looks fresh indeed.
Technical specifications haven't been available, as there is no press release or official statement regarding that factor, by company officials. The first generation Figo was available in both petrol and diesel engines. The diesel variant of the first generation Figo was equipped with the same 1.4 litre engine which is currently powering the Ford Ikon and Ford Fiesta and the petrol variant is equipped with a 1.2 litre. The Figo first generation was available in different classes, LXI, EXI, ZXI and Titanium, the Titanium class added alloy wheels, dual air bags and ABS. However, the first generation Figo underwent a facelift in 2012, some major cosmetic changes were seen in and out, but the vehicle remained mechanically unchanged, so people should be eagerly expecting modification on the mechanical part.
If the Aspire had a budding price tag of 4.89Lakhs, the Figo should be sold around the same starting price tag. The prices are reasonable, so the vehicle should have some competitors with the same credentials, the Hyundai Grand i10, the Tata Bolt are namely some good vehicles that the 2015 Figo hatch can compete against and people could likely compare both in the same manner.
