Mitsubishi Pajero is considered to be one of the most popular SUVs of the early 20s. With its raw and masculine nature, it had stolen many minds even today. Later, Hindustan Motors re-launched the Pajero Sport in 2012. Recently, Mitsubishi has launched the new 2017 Pajero Sport Select Plus in India, with a price tag of Rs 28.9 lakh for the automatic variant and costs Rs 29.3 lakh for the manual transmission. (All prices are based on ex-showroom New Delhi)
With the likes of New Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and recently launched Volkswagen Tiguan; this new Pajero would be a perfect alternative in this segment to choose from. This 7-seater SUV is the upgraded version of the Pajero Sport already available in the market.
The Select Plus edition features some of the cosmetic outfits like illuminated scuff plates, chrome door handles, side wheel arch flares, front crash guard, daytime running lights and a black radiator grille. Mitsubishi has also added auto fold ORVM and HID headlamps for this SUV. Other utility additions are, cooler for chilling drinks, DVD player, and cruise control. Some features like dual-zone climate control and touchscreen infotainment with navigation and a reverse camera are retained in this latest edition.
Mechanically, nothing has changed from the standard Pajero Sport. It continues to draw the power from 2.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine available in 5-speed automatic and manual transmission. The mill churns out a maximum power of 178Ps @ 4000 rpm and the torque figures vary from 350Nm in the automatic variant to 400Nm in manual transmission with four-wheel drive option.
