Suzuki Swift Sport Unveiled

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car maker has revealed a performance variant of its Swift called Suzuki Swift Sport. Introducing the Swift Sport, Suzuki is targeting the ‘semi hot hatchback’ segment.



Suzuki stated the Sport as “offers superior cornering stability and brisker, more responsive handling, thanks to struts with internal rebound springs and an exclusive rear-suspension design”. In India the revolution of hot hatch segment started with the introduction of Palio 1.6. Currently the hot hatch segment is occupied by Volkswagen Polo 1.6 and the Fabia 1.6. And Suzuki Swift Sport will be the latest one to this segment.



Engine and Specification:
The Swift Sport comes with a 1.6-litre petrol engine which delivers a power of 136 PS and a torque of 160 Nm. The advanced 1586 cc engine combines with multi-point injection, variable intake system, optimisation of the intake VVT and increased valve lift for an excellent on-road performance. The vehicle comes mated with a six-speed manual gearbox. Along with the smooth transmission, a great fuel economy is offered by the Sport. Moreover the CO2 emission is very less(147 g/km which is 18 g/km less than its previous edition). The new Swift Sport uses 17-inch aluminium-alloy wheels, which is 1kg lighter than the previous model. The specially developed tyres for Swift Sport have of size 195/45R17. The ground clearance and wheel base of new Sport is 130 mm and 2430 mm respectively. The vehicle has a top speed of 195 km/h. The Sport with a fuel tank capacity of 42 litres, has a kerb weight of 1045 kg.



Exterior:
The exterior of the new Swift Sport is designed so to get an aggressive sporty look. The Sport has a length of 3890 mm, a width of 1695 mm and a height of 1510 mm. For the very first time aerodynamic components are introduced to the Swift family. Where the aerodynamic components include control airflow, suppress lift and low visual centre of gravity. High intensity discharge headlamps with metallic-grey coating and rear combination lamps with cylindrical design were the notable exterior features.


Interior:
Only slight changes are made on the interior of the Swift Sport. The spokes of the steering wheel have been tweaked slightly and the car comes with racing bucket seats. The front and rear passengers feel comfortable with enough leg room in the car. The car is spacious enough to adapt 4 passengers with ease.



Safety features:
To enhance the safety features seven airbags have been placed in the front, side, curtain, and knee areas . Moreover, Swift Sport is loaded with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic braking-force distribution (EBD).

The new Sport will offer tough competition to models such as Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Fabia. The Suzuki Swift Sport will be available in a variety of colors- Cool White Pearl Metallic, Silky Silver Metallic, Cosmic Black Pearl Metallic, Kashmir Blue Pearl Metallic, Ablaze Red Pearl Metallic.
