Tata Nexon's New Leap into CNG Technology
In an exciting development at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, Tata Motors unveiled a significant advancement in the automotive sector with the introduction of the Nexon SUV's CNG variant. This introduction marks a notable shift towards more environmentally friendly vehicles in the Indian market.
Under the Hood: Power Meets Efficiency
The Nexon iCNG is powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, a motor known for its balance of power and efficiency. While the performance metrics for the CNG variant are still under wraps, the petrol version is recognized for its output of 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. Anticipation is high for the model to be available with both manual and automatic transmissions, catering to a broad range of driving preferences.
Revolutionary Twin-Cylinder Approach
A key feature of the Nexon CNG is Tata Motors' innovative twin-cylinder technology. This design approach, which utilizes two 30-liter cylinders, was first introduced in the Altroz hatchback and subsequently in the Punch CNG. This strategic engineering choice allows for increased storage space without compromising fuel capacity.
Design Consistency with a Fresh Touch
Visually, the Nexon CNG aligns closely with the updated Nexon facelift. It showcases the latest design elements such as Tata's recognizable LED DRLs, a revamped grille, and bumper, along with updated headlight and fog lamp designs. The rear of the vehicle maintains the aesthetic continuity with the facelift model, featuring connected LED taillights. Despite these updates, the SUV's overall dimensions remain as per the previous facelift model.
Anticipated Launch and Market Competition
Tata Motors has yet to announce an exact launch date for the Nexon CNG, but market entry is expected later in the year. This new offering is set to rival other eco-friendly models in the Indian market, such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG.
