Increased Weight
The new hybrid system has added about 500 kg to the vehicle's weight, bringing the total to 2.4 tonnes. Despite this, the M5 remains a high-performance machine, thanks to its advanced powertrain and adaptive M suspension. The sedan features an 18.6 kWh battery pack, offering an electric-only range of 67-69 km and a top speed of 140 km/h in electric mode.
Design Enhancements
The new BMW M5 boasts a more aggressive design compared to the standard 5 Series. The front bumper is enhanced with a lip spoiler, and the sides are redesigned for a more imposing look. The vehicle is also wider by 76 mm at the front and 48 mm at the rear. It sports quad exhaust tips and rides on M light alloys with 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the rear, fitted with high-performance tires.
Interior Features
Inside, the M5 mirrors the new 5 Series layout but includes M-specific upgrades. It features BMW's latest Curved Display with the 8.5 OS, an M leather flat-bottom steering wheel, M sport seats, a head-up display, four-zone climate control, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and wireless charging.
Advanced Suspension and Driving Modes
The new M5 comes with three driving modes and a five-link rear axle with strengthened control arms. The front axle features a double-wishbone design for improved rigidity. The Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers is standard, allowing drivers to fine-tune the handling.
Market Launch
The new BMW M5 is set to go on sale globally, with the Indian market expecting its arrival in 2025. It will compete with the likes of the Mercedes-AMG E 63. Production will begin in July 2024, with the global market launch starting in November 2024. The major markets for the M5 include North America, Europe, and Asia.
