Mahindra Unveils the New Maxximo Plus Mini-truck in India

The new Maxximo Plus offers a fuel economy of 21.9 kmpl and a top speed of is 70 kmph.

Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) launched a new version of its Light Commercial Vehicle(LCV) Maxximo, called Maxximo Plus. The Maxximo Plus is the most technologically advanced 0.85 ton playload mini truck in India.



Mr.Pravin Shah, chief executive, automotive division, M&M and Mr.Rajan Wadhera, EVP, R&D and Global Product Development, M&M at the Mahindra unveil the new Maxximo Plus Mini-truck, Press Conference in Mumbai on 4th March 2013. The new Maxximo Plus is available in both BS3 and BS4 variants.

The new Maxximo Plus is powered by a 2-cylinder, 909 cc diesel engine. The mini-truck has a longer wheelbase and a stronger 7-leaf rear suspension. The Maxximo Plus comes equipped with a special Fuel Smart Technology, which enables the driver to choose between two driving modes- Power and Economy. 'Power' mode helps the engine to makes use of 26 PS of power to deliver high performance, while in the 'Economy' mode the power output is down to around 17 PS to deliver a higher mileage of 21.9 kmpl. The mini-truck offers a top speed of is 70 kmph.

Speaking on the launch, Mr. Pravin Shah said, ''At Mahindra, our endeavour has always been to use alternative thinking with deep consumer insight in a bid to provide superior value to our customers. The new Maxximo Plus mini-truck delivers on this endeavour with the pioneering but simple-to-use Fuel Smart technology, superior engine performance and superior load carrying capability. We are sure that the new Maxximo Plus will go a long way in helping our customers prosper in life, which is in keeping with our philosophy of Rise.''

The company currently has a capacity to produce around 8,000 units per month of the Maxximo at the plant and the officials said that the capacity will be increased based on the demand. M&M has invested around Rs 10 crore for the development of new Maxximo Plus.

"Critical to commercial vehicle ownership is the operating cost, per ton per kilometer; with the new Maxximo Plus the customer will potentially earn approximately 30 percent more, per year, over the competition," the company says.

The Maxximo Plus gets a 2 years/60,000 kms warranty. The BS3 version of Maxximo Plus will be available at Rs. 3.40 lakh( Ex-showroom Thane) and the BS4 version will be available at Rs 3.49 lakh(Ex-showroom, Mumbai). The new Maxximo Plus will continue to be available in two attractive shades of Appy Red and Diamond White.
