Review: 2013 Chevrolet Sail Sedan

Chevrolet, the well known car manufactures of India had launched the Chevrolet Sail Sedan 1st February. Chevrolet is a divison of General Motors(US based company).



Chevrolet launched Sail Sedan variants in LS, LS ABS and LT ABS in both petrol and diesel form. The new Chevrolet Sail Sedan petrol variant is powered by 1.2 litre engine, which has been equipped by a four cyclinders. The 1199 cc engine got SMARTECH technology along with a DOHC (dual overhead cam shaft) and a MPFI (multi point fuel injection) supply system. The engine comes mated to a five speed manual gear box. The base variant comes with a peak power of 86 PS at 6000 rpm and has a peak torque of 113 Nm at 5000 rpm. The company claims a fuel efficiency of 18.2 kmpl, under standard conditions.




The Chevrolet diesel variant is powered by a 1.3-litre engine with four cylinders having 16 valves. The four wheeler got a 1248 cc DOHC, SDE engine delivers a maximum power of 78 PS at 4000 rpm and has a maximum torque of 205 Nm at 1750 rpm. The mileage of the new Sail Sedan diesel is 22.10 kmpl.

The most striking features of the Chevrolet include front and rear power windows, electrically adjustable external rear view mirrors, a day and night internal rear view mirror, a digital tachometer, adjustable headrests for the front seats and a 60:40 foldable rear seats. The Sail got a dual-port grille and just like its hatchback, it has the gold Chevrolet emblem showcased in the middle

The interiors of new Sail Sedan are identical to the hatchback. The sedan have equipped with a lot of boot space and legspace, which give a lot of convenience to the passengers. This sedan also has a cigar lighter, a digital clock on the audio display, a rear defogger. The Chevrolet Sail Sedan got a very advanced music system with a FM Radio, a MP3 and CD player. Sedan got four speakers, two at rear and remaining two in the front.

The security features include a highly advanced ABS with EBD, dual SRS front airbags, speed sensitive automatic door locks, an engine immobiliser, front seat 3-point ELR belts with pretensioners and a door open warning notification.


The petrol variants of the sedan will be available at a starting price of Rs. 5.7 lakh, the diesel variant is available at Rs 7 lakh, for the top variant. The Sail Sedan will compete with Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Toyota Etios, Mahindra Verito and Tata Manza.
