Mahindra Scorpio is a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) manufactured by Mahindra and Mahindra Limited. Among the SUVs in India, Mahindra's Scorpio has a high demand in Indian market. Mahindra always updates the Scorpio so to avoid it from ageing. Let's go through the current Scorpio.
Engine and specification:
The latest version Scorpio get two engine variants- a 2.2-litre mHawk and a 2.5-litre m2Di. The 2.2-litre, 4 -cylinder mHawk diesel engine has a maximum power of 120 hp at 4000 rpm and has a peak torque of 290 Nm at 1800- 2800 rpm. Its 2.5L DI engine is mated with a five- speed manual gearbox.
Exterior and Interior:
Mahindra always updates Scorpio with new features, but the company didn't make changes to the shape of the Scorpio. The latest version of Scorpio comes with the standard Mahindra front grille with the company’s logo surrounded by a vertical chrome slat. The Scorpio got a muscular look with the headlamp design. The mHawk badge on the driver’s side is the only recently addition made to Scorpio. The instrument panel of the Scorpio is a simple one.

Major other features include cruise control, in-dash music system with USB and aux, steering mounted audio and Bluetooth connectivity. The safety features include Front Dual airbags with collapsible steering column, immobilizer and have ABS in its higher variants. The Scorpio engine is powerful, which offers a good the driving comfort and the space is decent.
History:
The Mahindra Scorpio was launched in Indian market in 2002. As the Scorpio was a huge success, Mahindra launched an upgraded Scorpio with plush seats and rear centre arm rest, dual tone exterior colour and various minor changes.
A major facelift is made on the Scorpio in 2006. The vehicle got mechanical as well as cosmetic change. All above this, the 2006 Scorpio offers good riding comfort. Later in 2008 Mahindra introduced a new Scorpio with a 2.2 litre mHawk engine. The engine was powerful, small and it offers an increased torque.
Mahindra & Mahindra has started working on the next generation Scorpio, which is codenamed W105. The new Scorpio, W105 is being developed at the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai. We expect the new Scorpio with a powerful version of the mHawk diesel engine and with more spacious interiors. The new Scorpio will be launched in the Indian market in 2014.
