The 2013 Land Rover Freelander 2 was improved much in terms of comfort and driving.
The new Freelander 2 SUV gets a lot of updates, which include a brand new centre console, 7-inch colour touch-screen with enhanced audio systems from Meridian, a passive start function, an intelligent parking brake, a rear view camera and a fully integrated navigation system.
Engine and Specification:
The Freelander 2 comes in two variants namely the TD4-SE and SD4-HSE. The TD4-SE is powered by a 2179 cc, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces a peak power of 150 PS at 4000 rpm and a peak torque of 420 NM at 1750 rpm. The SD4-HSE uses the same diesel engine, but produces 190 PS at 3500 rpm and a torque of 420 NM at 1750 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6 speed automatic with command shift technology. The SUV get 17-inch alloy wheels on the top-spec HSE variant.
The 150 PS Freelander accelerates to 100kmph in around 11 seconds with a top speed of 180 kmph, while the 190 PS variant reaches 100 kmph in 10 seconds with a top speed of 190 kmph. The vehicle which is very reliable for long journeys gives an overall mileage of just 8.9 kmpl.
Interior:
Land Rover Freelander 2 gives you the feeling you deserve from a luxury car. The vehicle uses high quality products for the interior design. Both the front seats get an armrest, which suits well for a long drive. Steering mounted controls include audio control as well as Cruise Control. The car is equipped with a dual zone automatic Climate Control. Both the driver’s seat and armrest are electrically adjustable.
The vehicle features a lot for entertainment system. The ALPINE audio system provides radio as well as MP3 compatibility. The music system is powered with 9 speakers and has 6 CD changer in the dashboard. The system is embedded with Bluetooth connectivity for answering calls and playing music wirelessly.
Exterior:
The Land Rover Freelander 2 get headlamps of xenon bulbs, daytime running lights and gets front fog lamps for added visibility. Body coloured exterior mirrors are electrically adjustable and have a memory function for the ease of more than one driver. Freelander performs very well at both high speeds and off roading drive.
The front grille is made in a honeycomb style and finished in silver matte, have some chrome lines in it. The SUV has a “LAND ROVER” mark just above the grille. The tail lamp cluster get a clear lens and the LEDs, which is more visible and brighter in foggy conditions.
Safety Features:
The safety features include driver and passenger airbags, ABS braking as standard along with EBD and emergency braking assistance. The vehicle also get the cornering brake control(CBC), electronic traction control(ETC) and dynamic stability control(DSC).
The SUV is now available in three new colours – Aintree Green, Havana and Mauritius Blue. The Freelander 2 is available at a starting price of Rs 38.67 lakh and Rs 43.92 lakh(ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the 150 PS and 190 PS respectively.
