The notable brand, which has ventures into its third era now, has a robust notoriety to maintain. As such, the Czech automaker has figured out how to offer a great 7 lakh units of the D segment sedan around the world.
Design and Styling
This new gen sedan points at a deisgn, reviewed by the Concept Vision C, in which the car is loaded with sharp lines and rakish components and looks not at all like the cordial vehicle. Trademark Skoda components like the chrome-outlined grille, bonnet, taillight components have been maintained but yet, has been translated into an exquisite style.
Regardless of the wheelbase being a decent 80mm longer than its ancestor models, the general outline seems to be considerably more proportionate in this model, on account of the decreased front shade (by 61 mm). The new Superb's unique design is characterized by a levelled roofline and a steeply tweaked C-column which winds up in stubby back shade. The notchback style boot cover, opens alongside the back windshield, giving a wide access to the boot space which measures 625 liters (30 liter more than its previous version).
On the interiors, it is a sober colour scheme with the dash emphasizing the brand's recognizable and traditional style, which goes in a quite complementary way with the exteriors. The rear seat space which is the strongest peculiarity of the Superb has been further improved to raise the competition for other sedans in the same league.
Engine and Performance
The new Skoda's powertrain components consist of 5 TSI petrol and 3 TDI diesel motors whose efficiency has been increased by 30% as per the manufacturer's statements. The motors go in agreement with the EU6 standards and are loaded with features like Stop-Start system, brake energy recovery system, Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) drive modes, three-zone automatic AC, electrirc panoramic roof, KESSY automatic-locking and starting system, standard electric parking brake, reverse parking camera, Canton Sound System and much more.
The petrol motors have their yields extending between 125 PS and 280 PS, while the diesel motors extend between 120 PS and 190 PS. Both manual and DSG auto gearboxes are available besides the 4 wheel drive framework on select motors.
Source at Skoda have also revealed that the Skoda's new flagship model may embrace the plug-in hybrid technology from the recently launched generation 8, VW Passat. The new Skoda Superb will be launched in Europe by mid-June, while it is speculated that the car will stride across Indian roads towards the end of this current year through a CKD route.
