Sachin Tendulkar's tryst with BMW began way back in 1993 and has in his period accumulated a number of exotic vehicles to quench his love for cars. Sachin has a special liking toward the German power horse and has a stable specially built to house his prized possessions. The little master is now the brand ambassador of BMW in India.
Let's get to know the members of the BMW family currently residing in Sachin's garage. The BMW X5 M50d - the X5 belongs to the SUV class of BMW and became quite a common sight on Indian roads once BMW entered India. However, the X5 M50d is a performance oriented version of the base X5 and the letter 'M' says it all. Moreover, this car is not sold in India but was imported specifically for Sachin and should be the only one running in the whole sub-continent. It can do 0-100 in just 5.3 seconds.
BMW had also gifted a special edition 7 series just for the master blaster! The 760-Li is embedded with Sachin Tendulkar monograms on the headrests and door sills and that's not all, the car might look luxurious but under the hood runs a beastly 12-cylinder 5972cc petrol power-plant that can turn into a rocket with a press of the pedal.
Another handsome monster that Sachin owns is a BMW M6 Gran Coupe . This 4-door sprinter Frankenstein got a V8 engine with a capacity of 4395cc. Release the Kraken and it does 0-100 in an incredible 4.2 seconds. This is a testament to how much knowledge and careful thinking goes through the Master's mind before choosing a machine that he would want to drive and is certainly something that sets him apart even on the roads.
Sachin and BMW officially announced their companionship in 2012, well before he decided to hang up his pads and rest the bat. The first person in India to drive the 3-series when it made it to India was none other than Sachin himself and since then BMW have shared the stage with Sachin. Earlier, the German auto giant had invited Sachin to mark the beginning of increased localisation in procurement of parts, which displayed BMW's commitment towards the Make In India program. BMW later released the 3-series and 5-series limited edition BMWs at the Chennai plant that had the signature of Sachin Tendulkar himself on 15 models. The 3-series has a base price of Rs 35.90 lacs and comes with a turbocharged 2.0 l 4-cylinder diesel engine. Meanwhile, the 5-series gets two engine options – the 520d and 530d, starting at Rs 46.90 lacs.
