The Czech automobile manufacturer is all set to launch the third generation 'Superb' of the Skoda franchise in India, the new model has gone through some changes on the interior and the exterior. Probably the only change which hasn't been done is the two umbrella slot's neatly placed at the bottom of the rear passenger doors. A wet umbrella can be dried in the same place without getting the seats of the car wet nor the floor.
The previous Skoda Superb has a length of the luxury brand Rolls-Royce and many people who reviewed the Superb did state that it as comfortable as the Roller, but you wouldn't find the bonnet ornament “Spirit of Ecstasy” standing out from the front which makes Rolls-Royce stand apart from any other luxury car makes. There is a tremendous change in the design and the engine is turbo charged, the weight of the car has immensely been cut down. Top gear who had reviewed the car in the Europe had described the cabin of the car like, “It's truly cavernous inside, a cabin in which you could lose a child for several weeks”. Also quoting the words of Skoda about the interior “modern, elegant and sophisticated look”.
This time the car is stretched a little more than the previous models and the width too has seen a change. The Skoda Superb is indeed big in terms of the length and equipped with some useful gadgets and technology updated for the passengers and drivers. An automated teller that assists the driver while parking with the help of the rear camera and when track changing, high speed internet access based on LTE-Long Term Evolution, seven airbags and electronic tire pressure monitor are all equipped in this car. The superb is available in two variants which is the diesel and the petrol. If the customer insists on having more power there is 217bhp 2.0L turbo petrol, which would woo from 0-100 in seven seconds. Having said that the Skoda Superb is a fine car, elegant in look and it surely does offer luxury above the sport mode. Well it can't be defined as a full fledged beast, it gets lucky at nooks and corners of the street.
The engine has got more stronger making the other generation Superb owners definitively wishing that they had the new engine in their stretched earlier generation superb's. The looks of the new model is neat and well furnished, yet again can't ignore the fact that it has some resemblance with the Volkswagen Passat. Looks like the 2015 Passat has a good competitor. When compared to the previous generations, it has it's equipments to stand alone and looked upon as the next generation Superb. The vehicle would be equipped with the multifunctional touch screen display, well there's definitely much more and should be kept as a surprise as the car is scheduled for launch this year 2015.
The word “Superb” itself means good, and the makers have done their best in preserving that title. There are chances of the launch of the Superb to get postponed, though the reason isn't clear. Word is going around that the Skoda franchise, would be launching it with the VW B8 Passat early 2016 to compete with them. Once the Superb is launched the other main competitors would be the Accord model belonging to the Honda. Well if you look closely these three would have a good competition as they three live up to the expectations of the customers.
The price tag of the Skoda Superb is around INR 20-25 Lakhs. Sources have said that it would be a little more expensive than the previous generation superb, but worth your money. You would have to agree to that because your getting almost some of the things a high-end car is equipped with. There need not be any more description on the size, but if your planning on buying this one, do make sure your garage is in the right length for the car to be parked into.
