A selection of upgrades has just been announced for the 2016 model year Porsche Macan. The vehicle’s reveal comes out on the heels of the Macan GTS being unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show and brings with it a number of changes which are likely to prove popular among buyers. For starters, all 2016 Porsche Macan models can now be ordered with the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus including complete LED cornering headlights. The lights also come complete with a high beam function automatically activated at night and triggered by a camera mounted at the front of the performance-oriented SUV.
Elsewhere, the new Porsche Macan is available in a number of additional colours and can be purchased with a heated steering wheel adorned in alcantara. The latest Porsche Communication Management system also comes standard on all Macan models and includes a large seven-inch high-res touchscreen display supporting Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth and USD input. The 2016 Macan comes with the new Porsche Communication Management infotainment system that made its debut in the recently revealed 991 facelift. The new seven-inch touchscreen comes with a smartphone-style user interface with proximity sensor and multi-touch gesture selection.
Speaking of smartphones, the Connect module contains an integrated smartphone compartment in the centre armrest for recharging and optimized signal reception. iPhones can be linked via Apple CarPlay. The new navigation system, available in 3D for the first time in certain regions and controllable with voice, delivers real-time traffic info and Google services. Using the PCM as a WiFi hotspot is also possible.
As mentioned earlier, Macan owners can now select full-LED headlights in connection with the optional Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus. The new lights have a beam colour that’s similar to daylight, and use less energy. The Macan Turbo gets additional exterior and interior packages inspired by the GTS. Besides the 21-inch rims in bi-colour 911 Turbo design, Sport Design door mirrors and wheel hub covers with colored Porsche crest add further accents. Contrasting elements in gloss black can be found on the air inlets and side blades, as well as the window trim strips and the rear underbody. Black pipes and smoked rear lights, too.
Inside, Alcantara trim is found on the seats, center console armrest and door cards. Decorative stitching in Rhodium Silver or Garnet Red on the instrument panel, seats and door panels provide contrast. Turbo lettering on the headrests and illuminated carbon door sill plates warn occupants of the 400 hp in store. There’s also an optional Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel with heating. Both packages can be ordered separately while Porsche added new colors to the available palette for the Macan. The new Porsche Macan will be available as from early 2016. There isn’t any revelation on the cost, but the company is expected to reveal more insights sometime before the unveiling of the vehicle for sales.
